Polyphony Digital Releases GT Academy Gran Turismo

The current generation game console cycle may be coming to an end, but Sony and their in-house developer Polyphony Digital are continuing to support the Playstation 3 with yet more exciting exclusive content. Gran Turismo 5 is the all-time top selling PlayStation 3 title, and has been re-released to promote and further continue the success of Nissan’s GT Academy project into 2013. This new title features the fully fledged version of the critically acclaimed Gran Turismo 5 game, as well as some added bonuses and exclusive access to an in-game competition.  The winner will receive a once in a lifetime prize: an intense driving day at Silverstone with instruction from top Nissan instructors and a VIP trip to the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours for two.

This special remastered edition of the game costs £19.99 and includes all the downloadable content packs currently available. The add-ons feature over thirty extra cars and three new circuits to add to the ton of content already loaded on the disc. One particularly special extra is the Nissan GT-R which won the SP8T class at the 2012 Nurburgring 24 Hours, with Gran Turismo lead developer Kazunori Yamauchi and GT Academy winner Lucas Ordoñez at the wheel; adding to the 157 strong list of Nissans already included in the simulation. In addition to that, purchasers of the special edition will gain access to a 25% discount from the Gran Turismo online boutique.

The next step of the partnership between of GT5 and Nissan is an exciting one and it just keeps getting stronger. “GT Academy has captured the imagination of many Gran Turismo fans.” Gran Turismo 5’s lead developer Kazunori Yamauchi said, “It is exciting to watch what Lucas Ordóñez, Jordan Tresson, Jann Mardenborough and Bryan Heitkotter have achieved in their new racing careers with Nissan. We wanted to mark the tremendous success of GT Academy with the very latest version of GT5.”

The game is already on store shelves, and the exclusive GT Academy Challenge competition has just started. The contest is exclusively open to purchasers of GT5: Academy Edition and runs until 23:59 GMT on 31 January 2013.
