A new race team formed by a joint venture between Peter Smith’s Redgate Consulting and Dan Eagling’s Lifetime Racing and named Redgate/Lifetime Racing will contest the British GT4 Championship with a new Ginetta G50.
The driver line up has been confirmed as Peter’s son Matt Smith who has campaigned various Ginettas with Peter in British GT and the British Endurance Championship (BEC) over the past three years. Matt will be joined by former British GT and Le Mans Series driver Dan Eagling for the season.
Dan’s Lifetime Racing concern has mainly been involved in historic race car preparation and has designed and constructed the Gem Clubman’s car. Dan worked with Peter and Matt last year on their Ginetta G55 in the BEC and he has past experience in preparing GT cars both historic and modern.
Peter also was responsible for forming the team which won the inaugural GT4 championship in 2008 with another Ginetta G50.
The team will compete in all rounds of the championship and is also seeking a driver to run as part of the team in their Ginetta G20 in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, when it is hoped the driver will graduate to the GT car for an end of season test.
Dan said “having worked with Peter and Matt last season in Britcar and driving with them to a second-place finish in the last round at Donington, I feel we have established a good relationship to base our 2013 plans around. I am delighted to be rejoining the British GT field this time as both Team Manager and driver and look forward to an exciting year running with Redgate.”
Peter said “this will be my 5th year of involvement in GT racing with Ginettas and I believe we have a team capable of securing good results but also one which I consider has the most overall potential of any I have worked with”.
