Sean Edwards: 1986 – 2013
It has been a terrible year for motorsport and the news coming out of Australia this morning is simply devastating.
Sean Edwards, one of the brightest young talents in sportscar racing was killed yesterday whilst coaching at a trackday in Queensland Australia.
Current Porsche Supercup points leader and winner of the 24 Hours of Dubai and the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring this year, Sean seemed set for a long and hugely successful career.
Sean was very proud indeed of his part in the Ron Howard blockbuster Rush where, amongst other things, he stood in during action sequences filling the part of his father, ex racer Guy Edwards.
His always obvious raw talent had, in recent years been substantially bolstered by a new discipline, a new outlook an a new hunger that was bringing him huge success, and with plenty of smiles as he did so.
We’ll reflect further on Sean’s life in due course but for now we’re simply mourning another lost talent, another splendid young man’s life cut short.
Our heartfelt condolences are with his family and his innumerable friends in motorsport .
