The plan for the ex Mike Newton HPD ARX 03b to contest the 2013 ELMS ran out of time to gather the all important backing it needed to hit the track running but the team behind the proposed effort is back, bolstered not inconsiderably by even more experience in the race management and preparation stakes.
Team OREX are set to join forces with ex ELMS entrants Team RLR to campaign the car, complete with fully upgraded HPD twin turbo V6 for a full season of ELMS action in 2014.
Based in the North West of England the car is a known quantity and the team are already confident of full season commitment from at least one driver.
Team RLR Msport were behind the entry in the ELMS of the immaculately prepped ex RML MG Lola in 2011 before going on to enter the Greg Murphy owned Oreca 03 Nissan under the Murphy Prototypes banner in its first year of competition in 2012 in ELMS.
With experience at National, European and Global levels of competition there should be little lacking in terms of the required logistical and technical disciplines too with OREX’s Dave Beecroft and RLR’s Nick Reynolds joining forces for the effort, the pair having seen success in British GT, ELMS and with Nick having played a part in the successful Delta ADR effort in the 2013 FIA WEC too.
The combined facilities available to the team will be impressive, OREX sharing a new factory unit with the Tiga LMP2 programme and RLR now fully ensconced in their facility embedded within the University of Bolton.
