Amongst a gaggle of interesting points raised in a briefing with Gerard Neveu and Pierre Fillon this morning was the nugget that there has been consideration given to a late Summer/ early Autumn start to future FIA WEC seasons with the Le mans 24 Hours potentially providing a season finale.
Following on from the example set from the new for 2014 Formula E, addressing a current concern of a long gap in the season calendar post Le Mans, and in recognition of the ongoing difficulties in finding race calendars free from potential clashes the potential for such a move has already had serious consideration, and remains an option.
The ACO has no objection it seems though some practical difficulties remain.
In other calendar news Spa is understood to have just a single year contract at present with discussions underway on renewing three year contracts with most other current WEC circuits, the preference being to establish a regular pattern and date range.
There is clear interest too in the potential for a second race in North America at some point though this looks unlikely to happen soon, and appears very unlikely indeed to be a shared calendar date with TUSCC.
