ELMS: Silverstone, Hour 1 Report

4:00 – Kiril Ladygin in the #71 SMP Ferrari cannot start from pole in GTC after being held in the pit lane. The #96 Team Ukraine Ferrari will therefore start on pole.

4:00 – Albuquerque leads out of turn one, no dramas throughout the field. Thiriet very slow across the line and Gonzalez takes second.

3:58 – McKenzie in the JMW Ferrari takes GTE lead over Zlobin in the #72 SMP Ferrari.

3:56 – Gregoire Demoustier leads GTC in the #98 ART McLaren.

3:55 – Michael Lyons in the #54 takes third in GTE after a great move into Vale, to get past #81 Kessel Ferrari. Lyons then takes second off Zlobin in the SMP Ferrari.

3:54 – An off for the #56 AF Corse 458 with Talkanitsa at the wheel, spinning into the complex, but carrying on.

3:52 – Three way battle for third in GTE between the #72 SMP, #81 Kessel Ferrari and #82 Cruible Sport Porsche.

3:51 – Michael Lyons takes the GTE lead from Danny McKenzie! Great move at club corner by the talented AF Corse driver. #54 leads GTE.

3:50 – The two Greaves Zyteks get past the Signatech Apline car to take 6th and 7th in LMP2. Matt McMurray leads the two Zyteks in the #41.

3:47 – Zlobin in the #72 SMP 458 continues to slip down the order, now down to 5th and in range of the IMSA Porsche of Raymond Narac.

3:46 – Narac gets by Zlobin at Vale to take 6th for the french team.

3:45 – Reports of the #63 AF Corse GTC Ferrari spinning at copse and not not moving.

3:44 – James Littlejohn on the move, gets past three P2s to get to 4th overall.

3:42 – P2 cars start to lap traffic.

3:36 – Stop & go penalties handed out to #48 Murphy Prototypes Oreca, #66 JMW Ferrari, #58 Sofrev Ferrari and #98 ART McLaren for “jumping the start”.

3:33 – Confusion with the penalties, with some drivers spending time in the boxes for multiple seconds, while others stopping and going straight away.

3:30 – with 30 minutes gone the P2 order is as follows – #38, #28, #34, #43, #46. GTE – #54, #81, #82, #76, #72. GTC – #73, #96, #75, #69, #59, #78.

3:29 – The Murphy Oreca of Riccardo Gonzalez has rejoined in 9th place in LMP2, is now battling the Signatech Alpine car of Nelson Panciatici for 8th. Makes the move at Woodcote, and the Pegasus Morgan of Julien Schell follows the Murphy car through past the Alpine.

3:24- Pierre Thiriet in the #46 gets past Michel Frey in the Race Performance Oreca for 4th overall.

3:23 – Albuquerque is having a quiet outing, and has a 18 second lead in LMP2 for Jota Sport.

3:22 – McKenzie in the JMW Ferrari has to negotiate past Zlobin’s SMP Ferrari again after serving his penalty, and goes up to 5th in the GTE class.

3:19 – The first stop for the LMP2 class gets underway, with Matt McMurrary coming in and slipping down to 9th in class.

3:11 – After the first set of stops for the P2 class, James Littlejohn leads the race overall in the #28 Greaves, from Christien Klien in the Newblood Morgan. Jota now sit third, as there was a driver change with Simon Dolan getting in the car.

3:09 – Most of the GTC class pits for the first time.

3:07 – Littlejohn holds a 13 second lead over Klien after a slow lap in traffic for the Newblood Morgan.

3:05 – Matt McMurray in the Caterham liveried Greaves Zytek pressuring Jan Charouz in the Sebastian Loeb Oreca for 4th place, and goes by. A three way battle for 5th in LMP2 ensues.

3:01 – Battle for the lead in GTE is in progress between Lyons and Cressoni. Lyons keeps AF Corse in the lead for the time being.
