Gene Replaces Duval After Le Mans Shunt, Turvey Gets Late Call Up For Jota

Audi Sport reserve Driver Marc Gene has this evening been confirmed as being called up as a replacement for Loic Duval in the #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro after the Frenchman’s huge shunt in free practice at Le Mans on Wednesday afternoon.

Duval’s Audi left the road at very hight speed and impacted the debris fence, after clearing the wall, in the Porsche Curves. Despite a huge impact Loic’s injuries were found to be superficial but as a precaution he is being rested from the remainder of the meeting.

The knock-on effect for Jota Sport where Gene was due to race, is that 2013 full season man Oliver Turvey has been called up to join Simon Dolan and Harry Tincknell aboard the #38 Zytek Nissan. Turvey had been due to race with Millennium Racing before the team’s Oreca Nissan was withdrawn last week.

The Englishman will arrive at Le Mans tomorrow morning and, subject to a few minor administrative hurdles, will be cleared to race
