Le Mans Track Work Set To Recommence

Matt Fernandez reports that as written here earlier in the year, work is set to recommence on a further set of changes to the Le Mans Circuit ahead of the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hours.

The relevant public tender document (issued in June) refers to “supply of a coating along the shoulders” of the road between Mulsanne Curve and the Porsche Curves, a job that looks set to be completed in two sections with the track between Mulsanne and Arnage first for attention commencing almost immediately.

The Arnage – Porsche section will follow in April 2015 unless public funds prove to be available earlier.

The work will involve the pouring of no less than 2500 tonnes of bituminous concrete, with the marker posts already in place this week showing that some grass will remain (more for instance than on the Hunaudieres, but that a considerable slice of the current grass verge, on both sides of the track, is set to disappear.
