With further apologies the comms set-up at Interlagos is little less than disastrous this weekend – We’ll post stories as soon as we can after on-track action, and pictures, if possible, thereafter.
Neel Jani topped the times in the final 60 minutes of Free Practice of the 2014 FIA WEC season, the Swiss took his #14 Porsche inside 1:18, the first man to do so finishing the session on a best of 1:17.572, the sister #20 car completing a 1/2, also cracking into the 1:17s with a 1:17.9
The remaining factory cars were all in the 1:18s but the Toyotas were ahead of the Audis this time, qualifying could be mighty close!
LMP2 saw the KCMG Oreca Nissan in electrical troubles with only a handful of laps completed.
Topping the times was the #26 G-Drive Ligier again, a 1:24.241 almost a full second clear of the #27 SMP Oreca Nissan.
In GTE it was Aston Martin Racing to the fore again, Darren Turner at the top of the times with a 1:30.027, a time faster than the GT1 Aston Martin DBR9 managed here in qualifying for 2007’s Le Mans Series race (though still seven tenths down on the polesetting Corvette from that race) David Heinemeier Hansson tweeted yesterday that the resurfaced track is giving the GTEs LMP levels of grip and the times are showing that, DHH’s team-mate Nicki Thiim popped in the fastest GTE Am time of the session just over a tenth shy of the Pro car, and second fastest GTE overall with the two Pro Porsches next up followed by the #61 AF Corse Am Ferrari (Pier Guidi) and Proton Porsche, Bachler rounding out the GTE AM top three.
