A source close to the so far unannounced Jaguar GT programme has confirmed to DSC that the car is proposed, initially at least, as a GT3 car.
Based on the F Tyoe Coupe the new car is still awaiting final corporate sign off against a programme that would see a Bentley-esque initial factory development and race programme with customer cars following soon afterwards.
A GTE version is proposed for later roll out but would likely be reliant on commercial (and competition) success for the GT3 car.
Meanwhile there’s mystery afoot about the current status of the Lexus RCF GT3.
Insiders claim that the car, developed by Toyota in Japan, as presented for the 2015 Balance of Performance test, was way off the pace and was withdrawn before the test was completed.
There’s been little or no information since then with a well placed source claiming that plans to field the car in Europe in 2015 have now been parked
