Fillon/Neveu Confirm 2017 LMP2 Regs To Retain Open Tyre Competition

In a briefing this evening at Paul Ricard, Gerard Neveu and ACO President Pierre Fillon confirmed that the proposed changes to the 2017 LMP2 regulations will be communicated by the ACO in the coming weeks.

One change to the initial proposal tabled to the Manufacturers at Daytona in January is that the proposed single tyre manufacturer for the FIA WEC/ELMS has been changed to a proposal of the retention of open tyre competition.

The FIA World Motorsport Council voted last week to enable the new regulations to move to a single engine supplier, the timing of that decision was apparently a surprise to both the ACO and FIA WEC!

No information was offered on any move within the proposals over the restriction of chassis supply to four licensed suppliers which was tabled at the January meeting.
