Press Conference Covering 2017 LMP2 Regs Cancelled

A Silverstone press conference due to take place later this morning covering the proposals for the forthcoming 2017 LMP2 regulations has been cancelled with media now briefed to expect a press release from the ACO later today with a fuller briefing during the week of the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours.

No guidance was being given on whether the move indicates movement or otherwise on the controversial proposal to licence only four chassis manufacturers for ACO rules competition from 2017 (there are currently six across ACO rules competition with at least two further serious projects waiting in the wings).

Media were briefed during the pre-season Paul Ricard Test week that plans to bring a single tyre supplier to the class have been abandoned.

Last month’s FIA World Motorsport Council approved plans for a single engine supplier to be introduced into the class (with the exception of North America) from 2017.
