With the Watkins Glen test of the Ginetta Nissan LMP3 now complete the wheels are churning on the potential way forward for the still very new LMP3 class.
As is often the case social media can give a flavour of progress with the various programmes, and today is no exception.
Team AAI For Asian Le Mans Series With Adess 03s
These pictures, posted on the Facebook page of Team AAI, the Taiwanese outfit that contested the 2015 Le Mans 24 Hours with a pair of GTE Am Porsches, are accompanied by the words “Building new weapon, see you in in September Fuji, Japan”
A close examination of the engine and gearbox pictured reveals that this is an Oreca assembled spec Nissan/ XTrac LMP3 powertrain and a process of investigation and elimination reveals that the team has purchased a pair of the new Adess 03 LMP3 chassis for a full season of the 2015/16 Asian Le Mans Series. Adess is believed to have also sold a third car to an as yet unannounced customer.
That means that three of the four currently revealed chassis manufacturers have already gained customers in either Asia or Europe and that the Asian Le Mans Series seems already to have at least four LMP3s on a provisional entry list, Italian outfit Eurointernational having confirmed a two-car Ligier JS P3 effort last month.
