Lawrence Tomlinson and Mike Simpson will return to the VdeV Championship at the end of August at Paul Ricard.
But instead of campaigning the Ginetta G55 GT3 car that the pair campaigned in the Series last season scoring multiple pole positions and a race win at Dijon, they’ll instead be debuting the Team LNT Ginetta Nissan LMP3 aiming to add a VdeV race win to the current Team LNT roll of honour as current class leaders in both the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Teams and Drivers Championships.
The four hour V de V endurance encounter will enable the team to continue their development of the Ginetta Prototype, as well as garner crucial data ahead of the ELMS visit to the same track next month.
Simpson, who is currently dovetailing a season in the European Le Mans Series with an entry in British GT said;
“I am looking forward to being back alongside Lawrence for the V de V. We had some great success in the series in our Ginetta G55 GT3 car last year, where our development year saw us bring home a number of pole positions as well as some silverware.
“The track time will be crucial ahead of my ELMS race at the same venue in three weeks’ time, but will also provide some preparation for a full European race programme for Lawrence Tomlinson in 2016.”
A former class winner at the Le Mans 24 Hours, Tomlinson has been heavily involved in the development of the Ginetta Prototype. Making his first competitive appearance since taking a class podium at the Britcar 24 Hour in April, the Ginetta boss said; “This weekend is all about continuing the development of the car and having fun in a brilliantly run and friendly series.
“We have fantastic facilities available to us at Ginetta, but there’s no better place to get insight than at the track. This circuit time will inevitably assist us in our preparations for Round Five of the ELMS, but as always, Mike and I will be aiming to be on the top step of the podium once again.”
A customer Ginetta LMP3 has already raced in the VdeV Championship with the Prime Racing car (above) dovetailing VdeV and Supercar Challenge outings in its debut season.
