French News, LMP3 Catch-up, Le Mans In Running As International Centre Of Excellence

Eric Debard is confirmed as one of the LMP3 drivers for the newly announced Olivier Panis / Fabien Barthez Tech 1 team, the team have confirmed a Ligier JS P3 for the full 2016 ELMS with Barthez set to feature in the planned Ligier LMP2 effort from the same squad.

In other Ligier LMP3 news interest seems to still be growing amongst potential entrants in the new French Prototype Championship with AKKA ASP and IMSA Performance following up earlier interest, IMSA Performance’s Raymond Narac has already tested the JSP3 Ligier at Magny Cours.

An interesting story from Le Maine Libre meanwhile talks of the Le Mans circuit’s candidature for becoming the “International Center of Excellence for Automotive Sport”. That center would handle marshals and medical staff training. The other candidates are not clear but the decision is now in the hands of the FIA World Motorsport Council.
