Attempto Racing is the latest team to announce the arrival of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Programme and Super Trofeo entry for 2016.
The German team intend to campaign a pair of Huracans in the Blancpain Endurance and the Blancpain Sprint Series, as well as the ADAC GT Masters.
Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini: “It’s great that we can now welcome Attempto Racing as a partner team. Our GT3 programme constitutes the spearhead of our motor racing activities. Customer teams around the world will begin racing in the 2016 season with this vehicle that we designed and built. We are impressed by Attempto Racing’s successful history and we believe that they will perform at a top level.”
Arkin Aka, Managing Director of Attempto Racing: “For me, Lamborghini marks the dawn of a new decade. I’ve been winning national and international races with Porsche for the last ten years and I’ve secured championship honours multiple times. Now I’m looking forward to a new challenge. Those who know me know that I always like to be at the top. And this is also my clear aim with Lamborghini.”
In the 2013 season, Attempto Racing won the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland with Kevin Estre, whom Aka had sponsored. That same year, the squad took home the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup title with Nicki Thiim.
In both series, Attempto Racing also secured the team championship title. The crew from Hanover also enjoyed success the previous year, clinching the 2012 team title in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Two years before that, the squad had claimed the championship trophy in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland with Nicolas Armindo, and had also won the team classification. Aka’s objective as the team principal has always been to put his trust in a mix of novice and seasoned pilots.
“Because I’ve raced professionally myself for many years, I have a certain instinct for talent,” says Aka.
