Amongst the many and varied interesting points arising from the FIA WEC Test on Sunday at Bahrain International Circuit was the first public appearance of the 2016 spec Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
The car has all new bodywork and, of course, the very large rear diffuser that comes courtesy of the revised 2016 GTE regulations.
Aside from the diffuser the changes are more subtle but no less significant, the new car a substantial aerodynamic step forward.
The car running here was converted overnight from the #97 that finished on the podium last night, “A full overnight shift for the team,” confirmed John Gaw.
That means two things , that conversion of the existing cars is easily deliverable, but that it is far more than bolting on the new diffuser!
The 2016 car is being tested back to back with the #95 Aston.
