The #85 DC Racing Ligier topped P3 with a 4:21.444 and the Menthos Racing Porsche headed GT3 after a 4:28.865 in Free Practice 2. Running was limited to just 20 minutes however, due to a lengthy red flag for an incident involving the #31 Graff Ligier.
Jean-Claude Poirier in the Graff car went off at Mulsanne, hitting the tyre barriers hard. The French driver was OK, and got out of the car unaided, but with the barriers needing extensive repairs and the marshals clearing oil off the track service.
The session started with the #11 By Speed Factory Ligier stopping at Pit Entry causing a Slow Zone to be declared for six minutes to recover the car safely. Also in the wars was the #19 Tockwith Motorsports Audi R8 which also had to limp back to the pits with a flat rear tyre.
When the session was red flagged the #85 DC Racing Ligier-Nissan of Thomas Laurent was at the top of the time sheets with a 1.7 seconds ahead of the #77 Graff Ligier of John Falb.
The leading Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup entry was the #88 Mentos Racing Egidio Perfetti in third overall, the Norwegian setting a 4:24.020 lap, five places and three seconds ahead of the next GT3 competitor, the #17 Duqueine Engineering Ferrari F458 of Lonni Martins.
The next track session will be the 30-minute qualifying session for Saturday’s Road To Le Mans race, which is due to get underway at 18:00.
