The Las Moras Racing Team has reported that three of its Competition 102 GT4 European Series cars have been lost in a fire.
Its two Chevrolet Camaros and BMW M3 GT4 were caught in the blaze at the V8 Racing workshop which they were stored in.
The team is now in a race against time to find replacement chassis ahead of the fourth round of the season at Spa next month.
“We are currently looking at options,” the team posted on its Facebook page. “We wish all the crew members all the best. Remember, we will be back.”
At the time of writing, there is no news on the cause of the fire.
Update:
The Schiedam police has confirmed that the fire took place on Saturday night and ran into Sunday morning.
A statement from its website confirms too that officers are working to investigate the cause of the fire with firefighters, and that “arson has not been excluded.”
Of the other cars in the workshop, Corvette Motorsport has confirmed to DSC that the four Corvettes which V8 Racing owns have been saved. The team has three C6R GT1’s (chassis 001, 005 and 006) as well as a sole C6R GTE (chassis 003) with spares.
One of the two Renault RS01 GT3s which V8 Racing fields in the International GT Open has also been confirmed as ok, as per a report by ad.nl. The car pictured in the story is the #15 RS01 which Max Braams and Filipe Barreiros co-pilot.
DSC also believes that multiple other cars were in the workshop at the time and is currently working to find out the status of them.
