Paul Ricard, Pre-Qualifying Notes

AF Corse Ferrari fastest, Meyrick gets Parker seat for Spa 24

Ferrari on top again in pre-qualifying

The #53 AF Corse Ferrari 488 of Olivier Beretta, Lorenzo Bontempelli and Motoaki Ishikawa (a Pro-Am Cup entry) was fastest in Friday evening’s Pre-Qualifying practice session for Blancpain GT at Paul Ricard, with a lap of 1:57.676.

WRT again showed well in this session, the #2 car of Rene Rast, Will Stevens and Antonio Garcia clocking the second-fastest lap, 0.344 seconds behind. The #84 HTP Mercedes of Dominik Baumann, Max Buhk and Jazeman Jafaar made it three different manufacturers in the top three with a time of 1:58.070, while the #19 GRT Lamborghini wasn’t far behind in fourth.

There was a brief red flag during the session when the #42 CMR by Sport Garage Ferrari went off track after losing a wheel. The stewards then announced they were investigating an incident between that car and the #8 Bentley, the end result of which was formal driving-standards reprimand for Thomas Nicolle in the #42.

Meyrick gets Spa 24 seat at Team Parker

Andy Meyrick is set to boost the line-up of the #24 Team Parker Racing Bentley at next month’s Spa 24 Hours. The former Bentley factory driver will join the regular full-season crew of Ian Loggie, Callum McLeod and Tom Onslow-Cole at the wheel of the Pro-Am Cup entry.

Meyrick joins several other high-profile additions to Pro-Am line-ups for the 24 Hours that are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
