SPV Racing has launched its 2016 Ligier LMP3 programme which will include appearances in VdeV, the European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series.
Driving the team’s Ligier will be former Toyota F1 test driver and NASCAR Whelen Euroseries regular Borja Garcia and the newly signed Ashraff Dewal.
The team’s programme for 2016 will begin at Round five of the 2016 VdeV Endurance Series at Mugello in September. From there, the team will enter the penultimate round of the 2016 European Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps before shipping the car off to compete in the full Asian Le Mans Series.
With two drivers now signed up, the team is now considering fielding a second car for the Asian Le Mans Series, with a number of drivers reportedly expressing their interest in joining the team.
Lars GV Lindberg, Team Manager, SPV Racing: “We are very happy that Ashraff Dewal decided to join SPV Racing for the Asian Le Mans series, sharing SPV Racing’s target to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans by 2019,” team manager Lars GV Lindberg said. “Ashraff is an experienced driver with a good track record that also brings the knowledge we need to run successfully in Asia. It’s great that our first car now has a really strong driver line-up, so we feel the time is right to consider adding a second car to our Asian Le Mans Series participation.”
SPV Racing will begin their preparations for Mugello with a test at Barcelona on Thursday 25th August.
