The WEC Paddock Responds To Corvette’s 100th Win

Various WEC personalities pay homage to Corvette Racing's milestone

With Corvette Racing scoring their 100th race win yesterday at Lime Rock Park, DSC took time out this morning to poll a few views from some of the personality in the FIA WEC paddock at the Nürburgring on the scale of the achievement.

Dr Wolfgang Ullrich: Audi Sport

“It’s a fantastic achievement for the team, a group of people we feel a great affinity with.

“I’d like to send them all our congratulations but particularly to Doug Fehan.  He, like me, has always embraced the sport not just as a business, which of course it must be as a factory programme, but also very much with his heart too.”

Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser: Porche Motorsport

“100 wins! That means they have beaten us 100 times! We should do something about that!

“Joking aside it is a great achievement we like racing them and of course we like it better when we can beat them but we have a real appreciation of just how big an effort this is.

“Corvette’s involvement is a vary important part of the GT racing picture.”

John Gaw: Aston Martin Racing

“They have always been a benchmark and we have a real appreciation of how big a task it is to maintain that level of effort.

“In truth though they have been very smart.  It is always easier, and way more effective and efficient, to maintain an effort and evolve than to dip in and out in a stop/ start way – That has shown consistently with their record.

“Now we want to see them race here!”

Jack Leconte: Larbre Competition

“We have been part of the Corvette family for 6 years now and perhaps have a unique perspective on this achievement.

“We started 25 years ago and reached our 100 wins 6 years ago so I know just how tough that is to achieve.

“It’s a huge target to reach and needs experience and commitment. It makes all of us here very proud to be a small part of it.”

Amato Ferrari: AF Corse

“They are a great team.  We always love to race against them and we always know we have to be at our best to beat them.

“I look forward to the next time we share a track.”

Darren Turner: Aston Martin Racing

“They are an amazing team, great competitors and great sports.

“Very well respected by all of the ret of us and always a force to be reckoned with.

“I’m particularly pleased that Ollie was part of the 100th win – Particularly apt for a guy who has been one of the longest standing parts of the picture on the driving front.”

Scott Sharp: Part of the very first Corvette Racing effort in the 1999 Rolex 24 Hours

“What an amazing legacy.

“Everyone knows the team, all around the world, and that comes from doing what they do consistently well over a long time in some of the toughest racing out there.

“Congratulations guys.”
