With the announcement over the weekend of a date for the third visit of the FIA WEC to the Nurburgring in 2017 almost half of the dates for the proposed 2017 FIA WEC calendar are now in the public domain.
Silverstone are already marketing tickets for what is expected to be the season opener on April 14-16.
Spa Francorchamps has also publicised a provisional May 4-6 meeting.
The 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours has been officially announced for June 17-18.
Nurburgring’s slightly earlier date on July 14-16 was confirmed over the race weekend.
The continued presence of Mexico City and Bahrain on the 2017 calendar have already been confirmed but the dates are not yet known.
DSC believes that the races at both Fuji and Shanghai are set to return too with the now seemingly annual uncertainty around the Circuit of the Americas back once again, the Texan venue though is still the most likely venue for the Championship’s 2017 visit to the USA.
The dates for the, as yet, unconfirmed race meetings unlikely to differ radically from the 2016 calendar as the WEC continues to pursue their so far successful strategy on ‘date equity’ as they work to build a global following.
