Callaway Closing In On N24 Entry For C7 GT3

2017 N24 debut for Callaway Competition's new GT3 beast?

In conversation with DSC, Callaway Competition’s managing director Ernst Wöhr revealed that the outfit is planning to enter its new Corvette C7 GT3 in next year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours following its partial VLN campaign this year.

“It’s crucial to race a new car on the Nordschliefe,” Wöhr said. “If it works there, it works everywhere, it’s a great circuit.

“We have a sponsor that’s interested in racing at the 24 hours next year. So we said we are going to do two VLN races to make sure we are prepared for the race,” he confirmed. “The plan is to be there, it’s not 100% yet, but we have interested sponsors so we think we can make it happen.

“It would probably be a Callaway Competition effort but under the name of a sponsor. It’s not certain, but if the sponsor comes back to us then we have to do what they want.

“We have a lot of interested customers, and we want to ensure that it’s reliable before they get it. The Nürburgring 24 Hours is a good way to prove that.”

So far this season, Callaway’s Corvette C7 GT3 has competed in ADAC GT Masters, taking wins at both the Sachsenring and Red Bull Ring, as well as a 1-2 at the Lausitzring. The #77 entry of Daniel Keilwitz and Jules Gounon currently sits second in the points standings following the races at Zandvoort last weekend.
