Frikadelli Racing will switch its usual Porsche 911 GT3-R for a BMW M6 GT3 for VLN 7, after the engine failure suffered in VLN 6 prevented the team from being able to ready the car on time.
“After the engine failure at last run we do not know whether the revision will be ready in time. For this reason we decided at short notice to try a BMW,” Klaus Abbelen said in justifying the decision.
“The M6 GT3 I tested on the Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring left a positive impression, the car is easy to drive and was very well balanced so it was an easy choice to make, trying it in a VLN race on the Nordschleife.
“In testing on Friday we all need to zero in on this vehicle. Nonetheless, I am sure we will get along well with the M6 straight away.”
At the climax of the VLN season the team of Klaus Abbelen, Sabine Schmitz, Patrick Huisman and Norbert Siedler complete again the quartet of drivers in the car.
VLN 7, the ROWE 6 Stunden ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen, is set to take place on the 3rd of September.
