Tockwith Motorsports are set to graduate to the LMP2 class of the European Le Mans Series in 2017 with a new Ligier JS P217 Gibson.
Tockwith, who started 2016 in the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup with an Audi R8 LMS and then graduated to the LMP3 class of the ELMS with a new Ligier JS P3, will form part of the new look LMP2 class next season as one of the earliest adopters of the new look class.
Nigel Moore and Philip Hansen are confirmed aboard the new car.
The team will though miss the 2016 ELMS season finale at Estoril, but for good reason, their Ligier JS P3 will be making its way to Zhuhai as part of what is planned to be a full season effort in the Asian Le Mans Series, again with Moore and Hansen as the driving crew, though Hansen’s final race programme will be determined by the amount of time off he is allowed from his studies at TASIS in Thorpe, Surrey where he is studying for an Advanced Placement.
The Asian LMS programme though will see the LMP3 car unable to compete either in the British Prototype Cup preview race at Snetterton in October, or the teams planned outing in the Gulf 12 Hours in December.
The first Ligier JS P217 meanwhile is set for a formal launch and unveiling here in the Spa paddock at 7pm local time this evening.
