The #72 SMP Racing Ferrari continued its dominant GT3 Le Mans Cup campaign at Spa on Saturday morning, with Aleksey Basov qualifying on pole for the evening’s two-hour race.
“I’m delighted with this third consecutive pole position,” said Basov. “It’s another additional point for the championship. I wish good luck to the other competitors this afternoon!”
Second on the grid will be the FFF Racing McLaren, qualified by Hiroshi Hamaguchi, with local one-off entrant Autoclub Excelsior lining up third, courtesy of the efforts of Michael Schmetz in the Aston Martin Brussels-backed Vantage.
“I’ve had three good laps despite some issues with my brakes,” said Schmetz. “I don’t know how or if we’ll be able to manage this during the race. It could well be because of the 95kg ballast we have on board.”
Perfetti in the Mentos Racing Porsche, Yoluc in the TF Sport Aston Martin, Cayrolle in the Classic & Modern Ferrari, Poole in the Barwell Lamborghini, Flohr and Rasmussen in the #51 & #71 AF Corse Ferraris and Mezard in the Villorba Corse Ferrari fill our positions four to 10.
Adrian Dunbar (FF Corse Ferrari) and Pierre-Marie de Leener (#14 AF Corse Ferrari) line up 11th and 12th, having failed to make the top 10 Super Pole shootout.
