Brookspeed team principal Matin Braybrook confirmed to DSC yesterday that the British team will be entering two full Manthey Racing-spec (MR) Porsche Cayman Clubsport GT4s for next year’s Bathurst 12 Hour in Class C.
“It’s one of those events you’ve got to do,” he told DSC. “Brookspeed is celebrating its 20th anniversary in January so it will be a good event to do when we reach that milestone.
“It looks like it’s going to have a good grid, I think there’s about eight GT4 cars entered so far, that sort of competition excites us.”
The team, which competed in the GT4 European Series this year with the Caymans, will be using the Gulf 12 Hours on the 15-17 of December prior to the event at Bathurst as a prelude to its first trip to Australia. Both its GT4s are on the entry list for the Middle Eastern race.
“We’re focused on the Gulf 12 Hours, with our two regular drivers Graeme Mundy and Steven Liquorish already confirmed in one of our cars,” he added. “Then once that race is over the Caymans will be shipped of to Australia for the big race.”
For the team’s trip to Bathurst no drivers are confirmed as of yet, though Braybrook told DSC that he is looking to attract local Australian drivers to fill the team’s available seats in due course.
The 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour is set to take place from February 3-5.
