An outstanding array of talent will represent Ginetta during the final meeting of the 2016 V de V Championship at Estoril this weekend. Century Motorsport and Nielsen Racing make their Ginetta prototype debuts, whilst a whole host of driving stars joins the Ginetta family.
Nielsen Racing, current Radical European Masters champions, will make their Ginetta inauguration this weekend with Radical stalwart Stuart Moseley joining forces with Asian Le Mans Series competitors Neale Muston and two-time Le Mans 24 Hour competitor James Winslow.
Rik Breukers, son of Creventic owner Ivo, will join the Century Motorsport team as their make their V de V PFV Class debut. The 18 year old will be joined by Ginetta rising star Ben Green, who was impressed by the G57-P2 during the official test at Donington Park last month, and Porsche Carrera Cup convert, Euan McKay.
With one hand on the PFV Class title, Lawrence Tomlinson will be joined on driving duties by Mike Simpson and Darren Burke at the Simpson Motorsport team. The Ginetta Chairman should seal the title after winning half of the races this year, a poignant result for the creator of the G57-P2.
Mathematically though, there are still two candidates who could take away the title from him: Charlie Robertson and Colin White, who previously shared the wheel of CWS Recycling’s #55 G57. However, since Magny-Cours Robertson has transferred over to the Simpson Motorsport crew and is paired once again with Ate de Jong and V de V Proto ace, Ander Vilarino.
Simpson Motorsport will run a third car for experienced V de V racers Remy Deguffroy and Jordan Sanders, who will be joined for the finale by current Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge Champion, Ollie Chadwick.
CWS Recycling return with team boss Colin White, celebrated GT racer, Sam Allpass and Adrian Watt, whilst Ginettas Italian outfit Nova Race return with their two cars. One entry will be piloted by team owner Luca Magnoni, Francesco “Checco” Malavasi and local star Goncalo Araujo, whilst a second will be driven by Pedro Salvador, Manuel Pedro Fernandes and Chris Wilson.
Rik Breukers, Century Motorsport Ginetta G57-P2: “I am really looking forward to this weekend. I can’t wait to jump in the car and race with Century Motorsport on their prototype debut.”
Euan McKay, Century Motorsport Ginetta G57-P2: “This weekend presents an exciting opportunity, with a chance to further my racing experiences and showcase my abilities in what is a brilliant car and team. I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting in the car and can’t wait to get to work with the team and see what we can do. A massive thanks to Ginetta and Century Motorsport for this opportunity, and to my sponsors for their continued support.”
Ben Green, Century Motorsport Ginetta G57-P2: “I’m really looking forward to having my race debut in the Ginetta G57-P2 Prototype. I tested the car in Donington at the Ginetta taster day, it was fairly easy to get up to speed in and I felt comfortable pushing the cars grip limits from early on in the day. It’s great to be joining Century Motorsport for the race as they have a lot of Ginetta racing experience and I know are looking forward to running the new car this coming weekend! I’d like to thank M25 Business Centre, Justot, Duncan Phillips and Jelf Insurance for their support for this weekend’s event.”
Nathan Freke, Team Principal, Century Motorsport: “This is a fantastic time for Century Motorsport and stepping up to a new type of car is something we’ve all worked very hard to achieve. Prototype racing is becoming increasingly popular now so this is the perfect way for us to dip our toe in the water ahead of a planned increased effort for 2017. What makes it better is that we have three brilliant new drivers into the team, all of whom are proven racers who I have no doubt will make a big impression in Estoril this weekend.”
Gonçalo Araújo, Nova Race Ginetta G57-P2: “I have aspired to compete in the V de V for some time, but the opportunity never arose. I am excited to drive the Ginetta G57-P2 and I hope to adapt quickly to the car in order to bring home a good result for the team.”
