Phil Abbott Joins Onroak To Manage Expansion Into Club Racer Market

New range of carbon tubbed racers, plus club events to come in 2018

There has been a rapid series of announcements from Onroak Automotive in the past months around expansion of the business into new markets.

The acquisition of the motorsport department of Crawford in the United States at the end of October, the purchase of the Sodemo engine and electronics business at Magny Cours and now a further announcement that will see the creation of a new range of Ligier racing cars, and events to accommodate them, from 2018.

The announcement sees the brand move further into the club racer and trackday marketplace and they will do so with another familiar name joining the Onroak ‘family’ with Phil Abbott, founder of Radical Sportscars, and his wife (and ex Radical Championship co-ordinator) Amanda, both recently departed from the company after 18 years and both now arrive at Onroak Automotive.

Phil and Amanda Abbott will manage the development and introduction to the marketplace of the new range of cars with carbon chassis plus a range of support services and “high-class exclusive” club racing events for the quick and accessible sports prototypes taking the Onroak concern and its brands into new markets once again.

We’ve been really impressed by the work carried out by Onroak Automotive over the last five years. The level of investment, products and services far exceeds anything I’ve seen in this business so far. We’re looking very much forward to launching the new models and the associated services.”

Jacques Nicolet, President of Onroak Automotive: “This new range of racing cars and services is aimed at all motor sporting enthusiasts whether they are interested in top-level competition or circuit driving using a turn-key package. Our intention has always been to provide products and services enabling enthusiasts to take part in practice days with the prospect of evolving and also the opportunity to fulfil a dream such as racing in the Le Mans 24 Hours. With Phil and Amanda, we are determined to achieve this goal by 2018.”
