Russian team G-Drive Racing has confirmed that it will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2017, partnered with 2012 ELMS LMP2 champions TDS Racing.
The team will run an Oreca 07, with 2015 WEC LMP2 champion Roman Rusinov and Pierre Thiriet driving, with a third driver who’s still to be confirmed. Though Will Stevens, who drove for the Russian G-Drive team during last season is believed to be in negotiations for the third seat.
This news means TDS Racing will field two Orecas in the 2017 World Endurance Championship, after confirming last year that they would run an 07 with 2016 FIA WEC GTE Am champions Francois Perrodo and Emmanuel Collard and fellow Frenchman Matthieu Vaxiviere.
British outfit Jota Sport’s programme meanwhile, after racing under the G-Drive banner in 2016, is still yet to be fully confirmed. The team is unlikely to race in the ELMS in 2017, is close to announcing details on a 2017 FIA WEC programme.
