CEFC Manor TRS Racing has signed Swiss driver Jonathan Hirschi for the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours.
The 31 year old driver has extensive knowledge of both LMP2 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He has competed in various championships from rallying, FIA GT1 series and both the Asian and European Le Mans series. This season will mark his fifth return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans having competed in the race back in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
“We are very happy that Jonathan is joining the team for WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He has a lot of experience in endurance racing including multiple visits to Le Mans so it is great to add him to our driver lineup,” said Graeme Lowdon, Manor WEC President and sporting director.
“We have had a busy few weeks preparing for the new season but we are looking forward to the year ahead, it seems like a long time since our last race so we really can’t wait to get going again.”
Hirschi joins Simon Trummer as the second new driver to be confirmed for the team’s two-car Oreca Gibson effort in the WEC since the ACO’s conference earlier this month in Le Mans.
