Friday Night Film Show: The Best Of St. Pete

It's a street circuit, it's Floridian, and it hosts sportscar races, it can only be St. Pete!

DSC’s Friday Night Film Show feature is back and better than ever in 2017! With the Pirelli World Challenge season opener just round the corner, it’s time to take a slightly different angle, as this time, we’re focusing on a circuit, rather than cars.

So, here’s the best that St. Petersburg’s street circuit, host to next week’s PWC action, has to offer.

First off, here’s a really nice onboard lapp with Taggart Autosport’s Lotus Exile from the 2013 PWC round.

Just look at the gear-lever work!

And another, but this time in rather faster machinery, as Frankie Motecalvo’s Mercedes SLS GT3 hits the ultra-busy Floridan streets in last year’s race.

But it hasn’t always been the PWC flying the sportscar flag at the circuit over the years, as many fans will remember.

Here’s a short film from Drayson Racing’s first trip to Florida for the American Le Mans Series’ round at St. Pete back in 2008 with its GT2 Aston Martin DBRS9.

And here’s what it’s like on board a GT2 car during a race on the narrow circuit – this time though, with the camera mounted on Team PTG Racing’s Panoz back in 2007!

Finally, to get you fully in the mood for next week, here’s the highlights from last year’s PWC races.

Some great action, from some of the best GT drivers around today.
