Generation AMR Enters GT4 European Series Southern Cup

George and Holder confirmed as drivers

Generation AMR is set for a full-GT4 European Series Southern Cup, the replacement for the FFSA GT Tour, campaign in 2017 with its Vantage GT4. The team will also compete in three of the sister-Northern Cup events to make it eligible for the overall GT4 European Series title.

The team, run by Aston Martin specialists David Appleby Engineering will race with a Pro-Am line-up featuring two team regulars, James Holder and Matthew George, who raced with its in British GT last year.

The co-founder and design director of leading clothing brand Superdry, Holder only started racing in earnest in 2016 but he quickly got up to speed in the UK’s ultra-competitive domestic series. This led him to a great show of pace and endurance in Abu Dhabi’s high-profile Gulf 12 Hours event last December, which bodes well for the forthcoming GT4 European Series Southern Cup season.

Team-mate George spent his formative years in karting but has since found his way as a Base Performance Simulators technician and coach supervising the development of sportscar and single-seater drivers.

“We are very much looking forward to competing in the 2017 GT4 European Series Southern Cup,” James Appleby, company director and race team manager said, “along with selected outings in the Northern Cup to qualify for the overall title with our Aston Martin Vantage GT4.

“We are equally pleased to continue with James and Matt, who displayed great chemistry as team-mates in 2016 while also getting along really well outside the car. We had our first taste of racing action on the European scene at the end of last year and it did not take long for us to commit for a whole campaign thereafter.

“Our Vantage GT4 has already shown front-running pace with multiple podiums and fastest laps last year, and we are certainly looking to carry the momentum forward into 2017.”
