Montaplast by Land Motorsport is set to defend its ADAC GT Master title in 2017 with a pair of Audi R8 LMS’ once again. Last year’s winners Chris Mies and Connor De Phillippi will drive the team’s #1 lead car, with former series champ Chris Haase and ADAC GT debutant Jeffrey Schmidt in its #2 R8.
“We are mighty proud of our success last year and looking forward to our mission which is, of course, to defend the title,” said Wolfgang Land. “A high-calibre field of entrants holds the promise of an exciting season. Mounting a successful defence of the title will not be easy.
“I hope that Connor De Phillippi and Christopher Mies can become the first driver pairing to win the ADAC GT Masters twice. We have a strong line-up with Christopher Haase and Jeffrey Schmidt in the sister car and are well-placed to defend the team title.”
This season marks the second year of the Mies/De Phillippi pairing, after such a successful first season together which saw them win the GT Masters title and VLN races.
For Schmidt and Mies, it’s their ADAC GT debut with the team. Schmidt has already raced with Land before, at both Daytona and Sebring. Haas meanwhile contested the final two races of the 2016 ADAC GT season in the German team’s second car at Zandvoort and Hockenheim, with Frédéric Vervisch at Round 6 and Stéphane Ortelli at the finale.
“The team made me very welcome last year,” added Haase. “We achieved success right away and intend to build on that. I have a great teammate in Jeffrey. Our goal is to fight for wins and the title.”
