BMW Team Teo Martín has signed an all-Portuguese lineup of Lourenço Beirāo, Antonio Félix da Costa and Tiago Monteiro for its 2017 International GT Open campaign. The trio will take on the Pro class for its title defence in one of the team’s BMW M6 GT3s.
Former Spanish GT champion Beirāo and da Costa will represent the team in first race of the year in Estoril, after that ex-F1 driver Monteiro and BMW works driver da Costa will take turns in the seat depending on clashes for the rest of the season. Alongside their GT Open commitments Monteiro will compete in the WTCC once again and da Costa will drive for BMW in the Blancpain Sprint Cup.
The three Portuguese drivers join Victor Bouveng, who was announced last Thursday as one of the drivers of the team for this season.
“We want to get back to the top in 2017 International GT Open season in both drivers and teams standings, so we have put all our effort to bring together a great team that take our BMW M6 GT3 to fight for victory in every race,” said team owner Two Martín.
“In this case we have gathered the talent and experience of three Portuguese drivers as Lourenço, Antonio and Tiago who know very well the taste of winning so I’m sure they will work very well together from the very first day and the successes will arrive very soon.”
The remaining names in BMW Team Teo Martín’s International GT Open lineup for 2017 will be announced in due course.
