In April a young driver initiative was launched in partnership with United Autosports, LMP3 Cup organisers Bute Motorsport and Championship partners Henderson Insurance Brokers. “I’m really excited to be racing for United Autosports in the final round of the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup Championship at Donington Park,” said Sir Chris. “To be sharing the drive with an aspiring young champion of the future will make it even more special I’m sure.”

“To have an athlete of Sir Chris’s calibre racing with us is fantastic news and an honour”, said Bute Motorsport’s Managing Director Chris Haynes. “He is an inspiration to millions of people, with a great public profile and his motorsport CV speaks for itself. As a professional athlete and Olympic legend he will bring invaluable experience and advise to the young driver, but additionally as an ELMS champion, he will be able to work with the team to get the best results. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how the Sports Insure Celebrity car gets on, I believe they will be a force to be reckoned with.”

“We were hoping the celebrity half of the line up would be someone with some racing experience,” added United Autosports Managing Director Richard Dean. “In Chris we have found just that. He has raced LMP3 cars before and is quick, so placing him with a young talent is perfect for this initiative. I’m excited to see who wins the Young Driver contest and to see whom Chris will be racing alongside. I’m sure from the final 10 applicants, it will be a strong driver line up. I’m really pleased Chris has agreed to join us for the final round of the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup Championship.”

Sir Chris will undertake a testing programme before he makes his competitive debut in the Henderson Insurance Brokers LPM3 Cup Championship at Donington Park on the 16th & 17th September.
