Supercars Set To Take Over Australian GT Championship

SuperGT rebrand in prospect

Current owner of the Australian GT Championship Tony Quinn has reached an agreement in principle for the company responsible for operation of V8 Supercars to acquire the operational responsibilities for the Championship (including the Australian Endurance Championship and Australian GT Trophy Series) from the 2018 season with Supercars set to rebrand the Championship as SuperGT, aligning with their V8 Supercars, Super2 and SuperUtes Series.

The deal is subject to final approval from National motorsport body CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport).

The move has been in discussion for many months with initial stories of the switch circulating almost 2 years ago.

Supercars have managed the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour since 2016.
