Motorsport98 finished Free Practice 1 atop the timing screens to kick off the weekend’s Le Mans Cup action at Spa-Francorchamps. Any Meyrick set the fastest time in the session, a 2:18.060, half a second quicker than the other 27 LMP3 drivers who set times.
Behind, Richard Bradley – who is racing with Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup champion William Lok this weekend with GRAFF – slotted in second, after topping the times briefly with a 2:18.644. The top three was competed by the Nielsen Racing Ligier JS P3. Colin Noble’s 2:18.724 posted in the final minutes.
The #9 Duqueine Engineering Ligier ended up fourth, with the DKR Norma fifth after Alexander Toril’s 2:19.065.
In the now four-car GT3 class – after two late withdrawals – Lee Mowle Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 topped the times. Dominik Baumann posted a 2:22.082 to pip Ben Barker in the Gulf Racing Porsche to the top spot.
Barker’s time was a 2:22.134 to go second, ahead of the Ebimotors Lamborghini, which was third and over four seconds off the best time from the leading Mercedes.
There were no notable incidents out on track during the session. Free Practice 2 for the Le Mans Cup runners is at 14:05 this afternoon at Spa.
