On a quiet Friday night in January, what better time to bring back DSC’s Friday Night Film Show to help start off everyone’s weekend with a bang?
With the 2018 Daytona 24 Hours just round the corner, let’s take a look at a selection of extremely cool videos, celebrating the USA’s premier twice-around-the-clock race.
We start off with a new video, published by IMSA this month. This one shows Team Penske’s drivers discussing the importance and allure of the Daytona 24 Hours, as well as giving us an insight into the Acura DPi programme:
Next up, a quick memory refresh of the 2017 edition of the race, also produced by IMSA, this one “The Sights And Sounds Of The 2017 Rolex 24”.
Another video to help you get pumped up for this year’s race is Lanky Turtle’s footage from the Roar.
Now let’s look back into the past, here we have some on-board footage of Scott Pruett from the 2012 edition of the race, back when Grand Am and the ALMS were still alive and kicking!
Going even further back in time, here’s a short piece from BFGoodrich on the 1985 Rolex 24, featuring some awesome footage. If you, like me (the DSC deputy editor) don’t remember a time before the internet, and weren’t born when Group C cars ruled the roost, this is retro-tastic!
Here’s a bit more on-board action, this time from a Ferrari 333SP, driven by Martin Lanting in 2016. What. A. Car.
And finally, on the onboard front, here’s Jules Gounon driving a L88 Greenwood Corvette at the Classic Daytona 24 last year. WARNING: HIGH QUALITY AUDIO AND VISUALS.
For our last video, because it’s basically the law in Florida when producing any content featuring Rolex 24 Hours footage from years past now, here’s the clip in which Max Paps, became ‘Mad’ Max Papis. Enjoy!
