This summer, brothers Pierre and François Fillon will be racing in the Grid 4 category (cars built between 1962 and 1965) of Le Mans Classic with a 1965 Lotus Elan.
Former French Prime Minister François Fillon last competed in La Sarthe in a Gulf liveried Lotus Elan in 2016. He also raced a 1962 Alfa Roméo Giulietta SZT 1962 and a 1964 Bizarrini 5200 GT at Le Mans Classic in 2014 as well as a BMW M1 in 2012. Fillon has retired from politics and was recently appointed as the FIA’s Constructor Commission President.
Pierre Fillon is an ophthalmologist and the ACO’s President since 2012. He trained at several French driving schools (including at Le Mans with Formula Renaults). Since 2009, he has competed in a few VdeV Series competitions with Porsches and Norma Prototypes. He has also raced in every single Le Mans Classic since 2004 and often shared the wheel with his brother.
