SMP Racing has revealed that its 2018 LMP1 driver Mikhail Aleshin, and FIA WEC Ferrari works drivers Davide Rigon and Miguel Molina will team up in its Ferrari 488 GT3 for the upcoming Blancpain Endurance Cup season.
“Blancpain is one of the most famous GT-series in the world,” said Boris Rothenberg, founder and head of the SMP Racing program.
“In each season there are more than 50 best riders from around the world who are very tight at each stage – half of the field often travels in 2-3 seconds. To win in Blancpain is prestigious, and, of course, it is an invaluable experience for any motor sportsman.
“Mikhail has extensive experience of appearances in various championships, including endurance races, and his team-mates, Molina and Rigon, have a good experience in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
“In addition, Ferrari cars are among the best in this series, so we are waiting for new podiums and, of course, victories!”
The team’s Ferrari will be run by AF Corse. Amato Ferrari, head of the Piacenza-based company, is bullish about SMP’s title chances.
“We are pleased to continue our many years of cooperation with the SMP Racing program in 2018,” he said.
“This season, behind the wheel of the car will be very strong pilots, even stronger than ever. And we have every chance to win the championship title in this series. “
