Toyota has revealed a racing concept of its new Supra, the “GR Supra Racing Concept”, which DSC understands has been designed to GTE-spec in Cologne, at the 88th Geneva Motor Show this morning.
The car was shown in full Toyota Gazoo Racing colours, and on Michelin racing tyres, as part of the brand’s re-launch of the Supra range and to “show the future potential for a car that can deliver high performance both on road and track”.
But as it stands, there are no current plans to race it, in the FIA World Endurance Championship alongside the brand’s LMP1 effort, or other eligible series.
When asked whether or not the car has an active programme, a Toyota spokesperson said to DSC: “We cannot comment specifically on future racing plans other than to say we are considering various possibilities.”
The Supra will however race in virtual form, Toyota confirming that it will appear in the popular online PlayStation game Gran Turismo Sport, in its next update in April.
