Team Parker Racing has expanded its 2018 GT3 racing programme to include a Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup entry with a Pro-Am class entered Bentley Continental GT3.
The news of its Endurance Cup commitment comes shortly after it confirmed it will race in both the Blancpain Sprint Cup, and British GT Championship with Bentley in 2018. It also means that three Bentleys will contest this year’s Endurance Cup season, Parker’s example adding to the two brand new Continental GT3s which M-Sport will debut in the series.
“We’re delighted to see Team Parker Racing return to the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup where they enjoyed success with Bentley two years ago,” Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush commented.
“The first-generation Continental GT3 remains a proven performer over longer distances, as evidenced by Bentley Team M-Sport’s Endurance Cup title and Spa 24 Hours podium last season, while Seb also demonstrated his Pro-Am credentials by sealing the 2017 British GT Drivers’ crown for Team Parker Racing and Bentley.
“I firmly believe the partnership has all the ingredients to mount a very strong challenge in Europe this year.”
Team Parker will race in the Pro-Am Cup class, with three drivers that have past experience competing with the team. 2017 British GT Champion Seb Morris will join Ade Barwick and Derek Pierce.
Morris is delighted to confirm his programme, the Welshman hinting to DSC at the end of last year that racing in Europe was his priority after winning the British GT title with Team Parker.
“I am delighted to have signed with Team Parker Racing for my first proper assault on the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, which I consider to be the biggest sportscar championship in the world right now,” he said.
“Winning last year’s title means I now feel ready to leave British GT and use all the experience learned there over the past two years to mount a championship challenge with Ade and Derek.
“I know all about Team Parker and the Bentley Continental GT3, which is a proven championship-winner against top Pro-Am competition. So I feel extremely confident that we can get out there and win in Blancpain.”
2018’s five-round Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup campaign begins at Monza in Italy on April 20-22.
