Christophe Profit, Onroak Automotive Sales Director was interviewed on the PA at Barcelona’s opening round of the VdeV this week-end and talked about the forthcoming JSP4.
“The car is homologated in the FIA Free Formula Racing Cars (Group E) category. It is still being developed as we speak. It’s a great cost efficient car for gentlemen drivers. We are testing the car with a turbo charged V6 3,7 Ford engine as we speak but we are thinking about adapting alternative and cheaper engines. We are thinking for instance about non turbo charged engines such as V6s or larger V8 engines.
“We are doing our best to have a Ligier JSP4 compete at the VdeV 4 Hours of Magny-Cours (next April) but there is also Donington [MSVR Car Championships] that week-end. We have sold our first two cars in the UK so we would need to have three cars readied if we want to be present in the VdeV Series as well”.
Christophe’s comments seem to indicate that the JSP4 will debut in the new PT4 category of the UK LMP3 Cup. There was no confirmation yet available from the Championship organisers but an announcement is believed to be scheduled later this week.
The car had its shakedown earlier on this month at Magny-Cours with Julien Gilbert at the wheel. The car was first revealed at the Racing Car Show last January.
