CEFC TRSM Racing’s 2018/19 FIA WEC ‘Super Season’ driver line-up is now almost complete, with the addition of Dean Stoneman and Leo Roussel (pictured above with Charlie Robertson) to its crew announced today at the Paul Ricard pre-season Prologue Test.
Both drivers are on-site in France, and along with the team’s other new recruit, Alex Brundle, they will take part in the two days of testing driving the team’s pair of Ginetta G60-LT-P1s. Stoneman and Roussel are set to drive the #5 with Charlie Robertson, while Brundle will share the #6 with the programme’s other previously confirmed driver, Oliver Rowland.
Both drivers will be making their LMP1 debuts with this effort, Roussel fresh from winning the 2017 European Le Mans Series title with G-Drive Racing by DragonSpeed, and Stoneman moving up after racing most recently in GT3, running with Strakka briefly in Blancpain last year. He also has experience racing with Graeme Lowdon – team principal of CEFC TRSM Racing – in GP3.
“I’m very excited to be joining CEFC TRSM Racing,” Stoneman said. “I have been looking at WEC for some time now and really feel this is a great move with a fabulous set up. The car looks great and I have worked with many of the key people in the team before so we both know the level of mutual commitment which will be shown.
“To race at Le Mans has been a goal of mine and I’m hoping that the agreement I have with the team will lead to an expanded program in the near future.”
Roussel added: “I am really happy to join the team, it is a good opportunity for me. It is the next step for me after winning the LMP2 ELMS title last year. I think we have a good line up with Charlie and Dean and also a good team with CEFC TRSM Racing. I am looking forward to starting the Championship.”
The team’s final driver for the season is set to be confirmed before Spa-Francorchamps, according to the team.
