21-year-old Christian Olsen has added to his 2018 season with Ecurie Ecosee / Nielsen Racing, by entering the LMP3 Cup season opener at Donington Park this weekend.
The Dane, who made his debut LMP3 start in last weekend’s ELMS 4 Hours of Le Castellet with Alex Kapadia and Colin Noble and finished eighth in class, has added the meeting into his schedule to get more track time in one of the team’s Ligier JS P3s before the second round of the ELMS next month at Monza.
“He’s come from historic F3 and jumped into an LMP3 in his first race and first start at Paul Ricard and climbed the grid before handing over,” said David ‘Sven’ Thompson, team manager at Nielsen Racing.
“He’s been impressive for his experience and age – his lap times were spot on. He’s lacking a bit of race craft which is why he wants to jump in at Donington Park.”
In the meeting, which will feature the global debut of the Ligier JS P4 LMP4, Olsen will race solo in the two hour-long sprint races on the circuit’s National layout.
Qualifying takes place at 12:45 that same afternoon, with the opening race at 16:05. Qualifying for race two is at 10:10 on Sunday April 22 with the second one-hour race getting underway at 14:00.
