United Autosports has confirmed that Matt Bell and Andrew Bentley will race in its Ligier JS P4 in this weekend’s LMP3 Cup season opener at Donington Park, for what will be the car’s global race debut.
The duo, who both have experience racing for the team, will compete in the series’ new PT4 class in the new JS P4. However, the team has confirmed to DSC that they will run on their own in the category, as United has scaled back to one JS P4 for the race; originally, the Anglo-American team was due to field two cars.
“I’m looking forward so debuting the new Ligier JS P4 sports car in the UK LMP3 Cup Championship,” Bell said. “It’s not something you get to do very often! I was impressed the first time I drove the Ligier LMP3, so it’ll be interesting to see what Onroak Automotive have produced for the Ligier JS P4. It looks amazing that’s for sure.”
Despite reducing its entry to a single JS P4, Richard Dean, United Autosports team owner still feels that it will be a very useful weekend, getting up to speed with the new car.
“We are looking forward to the opening round of the LMP3 Cup,” he said. “It will be great to finally see the Ligier JS P4 out on a UK circuit. We will be gathering more information on the car for our customers based on the UK circuits so it will be a beneficial weekend for us.”
