The #66 Attempto Racing Audi R8 LMS driven by Steijn Schothorst and Kelvin van der Linde topped the time-sheets in FP2 for the third round of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series on the GP circuit at Brands Hatch, Kent. As temperatures continued to climb in weather that was in sharp contrast to the previous weekend, Van de Linde lapped the 3.92 km circuit in 1:24.235 in the final 10 minutes, over half a second quicker than the best time of the first session.
Second quickest overall was the #17 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS of Stuart Leonard and Frederic Vervisch in which Vervisch put in 1:24.528 early in the session.
Eight tenths slower was Raffaele Marciello in the #88 Akka ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 he shares with Michael Meadows.
In the Silver class, reduced to three cars for the session following Alexey Korneev’s heavy impact at Turn 8 in FP1 in the #35 SMP Racing by Akka ASP entry, Jack Manchester, in the #90 Akka ASP Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 he shares with Nico Bastian, put in the quickest time of the session with a 1:25.700 with 30 minutes to go.
Quickest of the Pro-Am field was the #26 Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS of Markus Winkelhock who lapped in 1:25.423.
The 60-minute session was interrupted by a brief red-flag after Jack Manchester in the #90 Akka ASP entry had an off-track excursion at Hawthorns just after the half-way point. The session resumed after six minutes.
Qualifying for the third round of the Blancpain GT Series begins at 16:00 local time.
