Romain Dumas has become the first man ever to beat the 8 minute mark for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
In competition today the twice Le Mans 24 Hours winner and 2016 WEC Champion, already an overall winner of the event three times, took his Norma chassied full EV 2018 Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak up the now fully paved hill course in 7:57.148, beating the existing EV course record by a full minute and beating Sebastien Loeb’s all-time course record by c.16 seconds!
The 12.42 miles (19.99 km) 156 turns, course, which climbs 4,720 ft (1,440 m) in elevation, has been fully paved since 2012.
